“Reed works to better Chautauqua County”

We appreciate the continued support from Chautauqua County!

Thank you, Melanie, for writing about the results we’ve been able to deliver for Chautauqua County in the Dunkirk Observer. Read it below or by clicking here.

“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Congressman Tom Reed has gone above and beyond for our district including us here in northern Chautauqua County.

Reed assisted Brooks Hospital in receiving $4.8 million Paycheck Protection Program funding to keep their staff in case of an outbreak. He also spearheaded an initiative to get our local hospitals across the district to agree to the “Western, Finger Lakes, and Southern Tier New York Healthcare Network and Hospital Pledge” where hospitals have agreed to share resources and bed space to help curtail any future infections and ensure as we reopen there is not an outbreak that would cause us to have to close again.

Reed worked with Quest Diagnostics to provide testing kits that helped Western New York reach our testing goal for reopening by providing an additional 3,000 tests a day.

He has also been working on getting the Smart Fund and Rewarding American Workers Acts passed. The Smart Fund would provide direct aid to our county government that has been devastated by loss of revenue, and the Rewarding American Workers Act would incentivize businesses to provide bonus to essential employees that have been working since the start of quarantine.

More recently, Congressman Reed visited the lake wall along Lakefront Boulevard in Dunkirk, and although the coronavirus has delayed the FEMA inspection of the wall, Congressman Reed has pledged to help push FEMA to complete this inspection by the end of the month, thus allowing the contractor to start the necessary repairs.

During this unprecedented crisis, Tom has risen to meet the challenge head on. These are just a few of his many accomplishments for our district and has more than earned support for his re-election this November. Please remember all that Congressman Reed does for this area while voting on Nov. 3.”
